We can earn more from Fijian sugar: Clark

July 4, 2018 7:08 pm

Fijian sugar can earn more money not only for farmers but for the economy as a whole with the Fiji Sugar Corporation capitalizing on measures put in place to increase sugar cane yields.

Fiji Sugar Corporation’s CEO – Graham Clark says the new budget of around 63 million dollars will allow them to implement the strategies in place to look at new cane varieties while the stabilisation fund of eighty five dollars a tonne will help farmers rein in their costs.

“The core focus of everybody is increasing the amount of land producing cane, increasing the yields of the cane and getting a bigger cane supply coming into the factories that are capable of handling it all. So the more cane we produce, the more sugar we make, the more revenue we produce”
