Water supply to normalize by tomorrow: WAF

September 30, 2018 7:47 pm

The Water Authority says water supply is expected to normalize in affected areas of Lautoka and Nadi by tomorrow evening.

The four-day water shutdown was due to the need to replace Vanessa Valves at Nagado Water Treatment Plant after 15 years.

WAF Board Director, Kamal Goundar says the authority is working towards ensuring they cart water to those residents in the affected areas.

He adds that the water supply for residents residing in low-lying areas of Sabeto, Nawaka, Mulomulo and Narewa has been normalized.

“At the moment, we are only carting water for the other areas in Nadi and also off the areas outside Lautoka City, areas that are not supplied through Savusavu and Buabua Reservoirs.”

He says the Nagado Reservoir will require at least two days to fill water so that water supply can be normalized for hilly areas.

The authority is urging people to use water wisely.

WAF has deployed 58 water carting trucks and 14 twin cabs to service affected areas and to refill the 206 water tanks that have been placed at strategic locations in Nadi and Lautoka.
