Water shutdown affecting thousands

September 29, 2018 6:55 pm

Close to four thousand residents of Lautoka and Nadi have been affected by the four day water shutdown as a result of repair work being carried out at the Nagado water treatment plant.

The Water Authority says they have deployed enough trucks and setup enough tanks in the affected areas.

WAF Board Director Kamal Goundar says work on replacing two new Vanessa valves at the Nagado Water Treatment plant by contractors, Elisha Engineering began early yesterday morning.

“The contractor is already on the ground doing the repaid work. The work is progressing well and we are hoping that the works by the contractor be completed by 10am tomorrow because the contractor also has to do some testing before he hands over the work to water authority.”

WAF says 58 water carting trucks and 14 twin cabs have been deployed to service affected areas to refill the 206 water tanks that have been placed at strategic locations in Nadi and Lautoka.
