An additional six megalitres of water per day is being pumped into the Raralevu system.

This is after the Waila Treatment Plant improvement work in Nausori last month.

The Water Authority says thousands of Fijians including those in Tailevu, Bau and Rewa now have access to improved water supply.

General Manager Customer Services, Sekove Uluinayau says this was no easy task as it involved proper planning and coordination.

“Undertaking the improvement works at the Waila plant as well as at the Raralevu reservoir were imperative for the authority. This is to meet the increasing water demand due to population growth over the years. We will continue to work to ensure that the water pressure improvements being experienced is be sustainable to these areas.”

The Authority closely monitored the supply of water in the Nausori area once work was complete to ensure the water quality was up to standard and residents had no leakage.
