February 15, 2019 5:40 am

Villagers in Nabaitavo, Naitasiri can now have access to clean and safe drinking water following the opening of a new water project.

The project was initiated when the village was exposed to the outbreak of typhoid disease a few weeks ago and there was a strong need to install water tanks and water seal toilets.

The Health Ministry has confirmed the disease has been contained and the risk of further emergence of the disease has been minimized.

Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete while opening the new project applauded the villagers for their hard work and the commitment shown by the health officials to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation in the village.

Typhoid is a water borne disease therefore access to safe and clean water should remain priority for the public.

The Health Ministry says it will make every effort with its development partners to address such issues.
