Water problems in the West

Water problems is currently a major concern in the West.

This was highlighted in parliament today by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rupeni Nadalo.

Nadalo says with the allocation of $750,000 for the ground water resource management, this issue can be addressed.

He adds water catchment in schools, villages and settlements dried up and residents living along the Sigatoka river bank, resort to the main Sigatoka river for daily water needs.

“The people of Fiji welcome the allocation of seven hundred and fifty thousand for ground water resources assesment and development for larger islands under the mineral resources department in the Ministry of Lands. This project will allow people facing water problems in the rural areas to have access to clean and safe drinking water.”

The allocation will also help in the assessment and the development of ground water resources by the Mineral Resources Department.
