Water Level at the Rewa River past critical level

The water level at the Rewa River has now gone past the critical level of 4.5 meters.

DISMAC is closely monitoring the situation in Nausori.

DISMAC Team Leader Sekope Seruvatu gives us an update on the situation at Rewa River and Navua River.

“Currently we are monitoring the Rewa river water level which at 7am this morning was registered at 4.63 meters of water in the Rewa River. The critical level is 4.5 meters. For the Navua River the current water level as at 7am is 0.97 meters which is decreasing and the critical level is 2.5 meters."

Seruvatu says there are 91 evacuation centres for the western and central division.

“The total evacuees in 91 evacuation centres are 8,001 this is including adults and children.”
