Drying up of water sources in the West and in the outer Islands is a concern for the Commissioner Westerns’ Office.
Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau says they are carting water to as many communities as possible including settlements and farms.
However, he does admit that supplying consistently to outer islands such as Malolo, Yanuya, Vatulele and the Yasawa’s can be difficult due to their location.
“What we are doing we are placing our water tanks in strategy position where everyone come and fill from that point that we have identified for them .Our Divisional District Advisory Council have been tasked to managed these water point.”
So far 1.2 million litres of water has already being supplied to outer islands.
