September 8, 2018 6:29 pm

The Water Authority will be meeting relevant authorities in two week’s time to decide on water rationing.

Board Director Kamal Goundar says many water sources are drying up mainly in the West and the North and precautionary measures need to be taken.

He says a meeting is scheduled with respective Commissioners of the worst affected divisions next week.

“We will do a check up on what’s the current status in terms of the rainfall around the country and whether our water sources have started to fill in with the rain that we got. But if it hasn’t, then we will start working on including measures like water rationing.”

Goundar says Labasa is the worst affected area with eight water sources out of the seventeen reaching critical level.

He says six out of the 14 sources in the West and five out of the 14 in Central/Eastern has also reached critical stage.
