The Disaster Management Minister says Fijians need to take heed of the tropical cyclone alert in place.
Minister, Jone Usamate says this alert is still active for the entire country despite the system weakening to category one with TC Mona contining to track towards the group.
Usamate adds many areas around the country will continue to experience heavy downpour which may lead to flooding, therefore, it’s vital to take precaution.
“There is a lot of rain. If there is a landfall estimated for today, people in the Northern Division have to be on alert and also people on the coast of Viti Levu and the Islands around Lomaiviti where the forecast track is.”
Usamate says low lying areas are expected to be flooded, hence, parents need to closely monitor the movement of their children.
