Waqanivavalagi a dedicated Fijian servant:Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says, the late Sakeasi Waqanivavalagi was one of the country’s most dedicated servants and distinguished sons.

Bainimarama made the statement in his condolence message to the Waqanivavalagi family and says they also have the nation’s deepest sympathies and prayers.

The Prime Minister says, Waqanivavalagi dedicated much of his life to the development of this country and was one of Fiji’s most trusted and valuable advisors after independance, whose wisdom and foresight helped guide our nation into the modern era.

During his long and distinguished career, Waqanivavalagi served as a founding father of Fiji’s National Provident Fund, a Government Minister, Chairman of the Fiji Visitors Bureau and Chairman of the Public Service Commission.

Bainimarama says, he will always remember Waqanivavalagi as a man who led by example, instilling his values in generations of civil servants.

The head of government says, his intellect, honesty, kindness and courage were matched only by his commitment to serving the Fijian people and that indeed, he has set a benchmark for national leadership.
