The Water Authority has strategic plans in place to mitigate water disruptions as dry weather is forecast to continue.

WAF’s water sources have reached critical level due to prolonged dry weather.

Acting General Manager Operations Sekove Uluinayau says they are working hard to ensure their customers are not severely affected.

Uluinayau adds they are also looking at building cofferdams in the coming days to mitigate the critical water levels at Waimanu River, in Colo-i-Suva and the Savura Dam in Wailoku.

“Since water levels at our sources are decreasing, we will need to build cofferdams as part of our mitigation plans in order to increase levels at our intakes. So it will enable us to be able to pump in more raw water into our system at Tamavua to be treated and distributed to our customers.”

The Authority is urging the public to use water sparingly.
