The Water Authority has received numerous complaints from Nausori residents about the discolored water coming out of their taps.
WAF says this is due to the major improvement work that was recently carried out from Waila to Raralevu.
General Manager Customer Services, Sekove Uluinayau says some areas in Nausori will continue to receive discolored water for the next few days as they are trying to stabilize the new system.
“Right now the team is conducting flushing works which is to remove this dirty water in the system. To turn on the fire hydrants and our air valves in order to bleed the air and also flush the discolored water.”
Uluinayau says the increased water pressure building up on the bulk line is causing high turbidity – affecting the water quality.
“We would like to advise customers experiencing this to boil drinking water as a precautionary measure. And also to call the authority so we can flush the pipeline in their area. We’ve been able to remove quite a significant percentage and there’s a few pockets still left.”
The Authority says their lab teams have been mobilized in various parts of Nausori and are currently conducting tests on the water quality.
