Good news for Lautoka residents as the Water Authority engineers have successfully completed the repair work on the high-pressure main pipeline along Batiri in Vaturu.
WAF General Manager Customer Services and Acting General Manager Operations, Sekove Uluinayau says the work included cutting, welding and grinding of the steel pipes fletchers and collar strap.
He says the work was completed this morning and a pressure test was conducted to see if it can withstand the high pressure coming from Vaturu dam.
Following this, restoration work commences from upstream Vaturu dam to recharge the line in order to supply water to Nagado treatment plant for treatment and processing.
Uluinayau says they need to build up the water levels before it’s supplied downstream to the Vuda, Saru and Kashmir reservoirs which have been affected over the last two days.
In the meantime, the Water Authority will continue carting water to areas that are yet to receive full water supply.
