Methodist Church claims they have retained members

The Methodist Church of Fiji is confident that not many members have left the church in the last decade.

Communications Secretary Wilfred Regunamada says while some members have moved on to join other churches, many more have come in from other church to join.

Regunamada also stated that a good number of New Methodist members joined them since the “Mentor” incident by Pastor Atu Vulaono last year.

“Some members left, some members have come in, great number of members came in after that incident with New Methodist, yeah great numbers of members just started coming in, joining other churches.”

Meanwhile, a huge marginal difference was spotted in 2017 when a census was carried out by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.

It shows that there are over 300,000 Methodists in the country while the Church only accounted for around a 100,000 members.

The Church is working to fix the error.
