Vuiniwaqa applauds work of PDF

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa today commended the efforts of the Pacific Disability Forum.

Speaking at the 6th PDF conference in Nadi, Vuniwaqa says tangible outcomes and efforts of the Forum is being felt in the cross sections of all sectors in the regions and have allowed for Governments to take a more proactive approach at the plight of those living with disabilities.

She says the Fijian Government recognizes the efforts of forums as such which has enabled real advancements in the various arms of governments to address issues affecting people living with disabilities.

She highlighted the many positive initiatives that have been channeled towards persons living with disability in Fiji including monthly allowances to over 1, 500 persons, housing assistance, educational advancements, and providing schemes to benefit the vulnerable among others.

Meanwhile Fiji continues to be a leader in the region with a robust policy for persons with disabilities.
