It has been clarified by the Fijian Elections Office that not a voter name was missing from Nacamaki village in Lomaiviti.
FEO Supervisor Election Mohammed Saneem brought this to light, after the Fiji Times published an article claiming that a voter did not vote as his name was not on the voter list.
Saneem says the name written in the article was Tavite Burelevu but in fact his real name was Tavite Naqarase.
“Our presiding officer informed us that she did not find anybody with this particular name turning up to the polling station at all. I stand by the words of my presiding officer. She said this person did not turn up. So either Fiji Times cooked up this lovely story for its page 2 or they totally hit the wrong person.”
Saneem says the only honest thing Fiji Times can do is correct what information they published and give it the same prominence as they gave in yesterday’s paper.
