Voter instruction booklets to be distributed first to the islands

Fijians living in remote island communities will be the first to vote as part of pre-polling and will also be among the first voters to get their hands on the voter instruction booklets.

Supervisor of Elections – Mohammed Saneem says with the candidates now allocated their three digit numbers with the ball draw finalized, the next key processes of the electoral preparation ramps up.

“We are printing the voter instruction booklets and we will start the distribution of the voter instruction booklet in the maritime areas, the pre-poll areas so that people in that area are able to get the information about the candidate numbers as soon as possible since they are going to start voting from the 5th of November.”

Saneem says that with the candidate ball draw held earlier than scheduled as a result of the Electoral Commission finalizing the appeals and objections, the electoral preparation process schedule has moved up by two days.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Elections Office will be transporting the first batch of ballot papers from the Printery in Raiwaqa, Suva this morning to a secure storage.
