Vocea address UN Assembly on Racial Discrimination

Fiji is committed to ensure that the objectives of the Convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination is achieved says Fiji’s ambassador to the UN Anasa Vocea.

Addressing the UN Assembly, Vocea says Fiji has made a remarkable progress in implementing the international Convention on all forms of racial discrimination.

Vocea briefed the UN Assembly on the full withdrawal of the reservations and declarations to specific articles of the convention since Fiji ratified the convention in 1973.

The committee last reviewed Fiji’s report on the convention in 2008.

The Assembly was also briefed on the current constitutional process and timelines set out by government.

The assembly will now deliberate on its Concluding Observations and Recommendations which will be communicated to the Fijian Government for consideration.
