October 16, 2012 1:00 am

Able bodied people shouldn’t have any reason to depend on others says Pushpa Devi, a visually impaired receptionist.

Devi has been working at the Westpac Bank in Lautoka for the past 4 years.

“If you depend on others one day you will regret when there will be no one to help you out, so try to go and do work outside, no matter what kind of job you find but you have to remember that job is job.”

Devi describes her life as a challenging one.

However, she says this doesn’t stop her from living an enjoyable life.

Pushpa’s story is part of efforts by the United Blind Persons of Fiji non-government organization to raise awareness on the importance of white cane.
