Tourism numbers for last month recorded an increase of 0.8% when compared to the same period last year.

There were increases in the number of visitors from New Zealand, rest of Asia, China, South Korea, US, UK and Canada.

However, a decrease was recorded from the traditional market Australia.

Provisional data released by the Bureau of Statistics also reveals that the overall visitor arrivals for the first six months of this year increased by 4.2 percent despite the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston in January.
