An announcement on the progress made in regards to visa on arrival between Fiji and India is expected to be made this month.

Fiji’s High Commissioner to India Yogesh Karan says there has been some confusion on the issue and a lot of queries have been made to his office.

Karan says the announcement that was made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit was for visa online application.

He says under this agreement people are currently required to get approval online and when they arrive in India then the visa is issued.

“I have been in discussions with the Indians that Fiji could be listed with the list of countries that do not require visa at all in the same reciprocal manner that we don’t require visa for the Indians. So I am expecting and am very hopeful that this announcement will be made very soon.”

Karan says the visa on arrival will make travelling easier for those who are seeking medical treatments in India.
