Village headman found with drugs

Police questioned and released the village headman of Loa Village in Cakaudrove over the weekend after he was found in possession of substances believed to be marijuana.

The suspect has already been charged with cultivating marijuana in an earlier case.

This was an outcome of the ongoing “Gauna ni Marau” festive season operation that’s being carried out in all divisions.

Police Chief of Operations Rusiate Tudravu says this is a great concern as it involves the village headman, who should be setting a good example in the community.
Meanwhile police after receiving a tip-off also uprooted plants believed to be marijuana Navutu, Lautoka yesterday afternoon.

Police are yet to make arrests in this case and is urging people with information on the owner of the farm to contact 919.

Operation “Gauna ni Marau” will end in mid-January.
