Village by Laws to be strictly followed

Disputing of vacant Chiefly Title may lead to continuous breach of the Village by Laws.

Ministry of I-taukei Affairs Permanent Secretary Naipote Katonitabua says it is vital for leaders to be on the ground and are frontrunners of following the village laws.

“Yes it’s a contributing factor when there is no visionary leader on the ground to deliberate and discuss issues that are of importance to each totoka, mataqali and yavusa and we are hoping that by June next year we should see a major improvements of the filling of vacant post.”

The i-Taukei Affairs has stressed in various Provincial meetings that the vacant chiefly titles needs to be filled as this will also assist in the protection of culture and traditions.
