Victim blaming in regards to domestic violence is rife in Fiji and this is a major cause for concern.

Fiji Women Crisis Centre coordinator Shamima Ali, says no reason is good enough for intimate partner violence and it should never be justified but its plea seems to be falling on deaf ears.

Ali says social media especially Facebook is always seen as one of the major reasons behind intimate partner violence however, this should not be the case.

Ali says Fijians need to work together to stop violence against women.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year the FWCC has recorded a total of 790 cases of domestic violence.
