Violence against women is now a thing of the past for villagers in Viani, Cakaudrove.

The village committee recorded no violence since the launch of the Zero Tolerance Violence Free initiative in 2015.

Village spokesperson, Lemueli Kulinidilo, says the initiative even changed the mind-sets of men who have set their priorities right.

“From the time it began to date, we have seen a great change. Men began to help their wives, they now communicate more, and some men began to help their wives with house work.”

The initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Women, the Police Force and the villagers of Viani.

There are currently 200 villagers in Viani.
