August 17, 2015 6:52 pm

Heavy rain and muddy conditions at the foreshore in Suva have caused uproar amongst vendors at the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival.

With the weather office predicting more rain this week, the vendors have raised their concerns in a petition given to the festival organizers

One of the vendors Tuberi Cati says couple with the heavy underfoot is the lack of accessible amenities.

“I think you can really see what’s happening, the crowd are depressed about the weather conditions. We are not able to make business. We are not here to blame anyone but just to show what is happening to us as vendors. What has really affected business is the weather and there are also concerns of water and public amenities which are all very far away from our stalls and we have documented it in a letter.”

The Hibiscus Organising Committee says it will work closely with the vendors in providing a better platform in light of the deteriorating wet and muddy condition.

Spokesperson, Liga Gukisuva says whilst the weather conditions is beyond their control, they will be putting sand over the muddy ground to ease the burden on vendors.
