Vendors breach law by selling panadol on streets

The Health Ministry has expressed concerns at the number of vendors now selling panadol on the streets.

Spokesperson – Peni Namotu says they will soon be giving disciplinary caution to wholesalers and pharmacies involved in supplying the products.

“The main concern of the ministry is that the medicine sold out on the streets can have adverse effects on consumers and is harmful. Pharmacy retailers and wholesalers are breaching when they supply people with medicine.”

Namotu adds they have warned distributors to refrain from selling large quantity of medicines.

“We have put out a directive to these wholesalers and retail pharmacies to refrain from selling medicine in bulk to street vendors.”

The Health Ministry is now advising the public to refrain from buying medication on the streets.
