Vakaloloma and Padarath handed suspended sentence

Aseri Vakaloloma and businessman Benjamin Padarath have been handed a suspended sentence by the Suva Magistrates court.

The duo were charged by FICAC and were convicted of one count each of forgery last month.

The court heard they forged the Articles of Association of BECP Engineering Construction Fiji Ltd between October 14th and October 31st in 2009.

They did this by creating a page and changing the particulars of subscribers from Adishwar Padarath of 57 Duncan Rd, Domain, Suva, to Voreqe Bainimarama of 228 Ratu Sukuna Rd, Domain, Suva.

Vakaloloma signed as a witness to the signature while Padarath signed as one of the subscribers.

The Suva Magistrate noted that Vakaloloma breached his duty to the court and failed in his professional duties.

62-year-old Vakaloloma who has lost his practicing certificate has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years.

Padarath who has been convicted previously of committing a similar felony has been sentenced to 14 months imprisonment suspended for two years.
