In a bid to support the victims affected by cyclones Keni and Josie, the University of the South Pacific’s Campus Life Office presented a cheque of more than $5000 to Social Welfare Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa.

After considering the devastation caused by two cyclones, the Campus Life Office staff and students started raising funds for the victims.

Vuniwaqa says having a department in academic excellence in Fiji that focuses on helping Fijians is commendable.

“This actually bolsters a student’s contribution to the community. The holistic development of students at the tertiary level is very admirable.”

Vuniwaqa says every institution should have a department which encourages student’s contribution to the community.
