Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says they continue to urge people to avoid all unnecessary travel to the high-risk areas which is the Serua/Namosi subdivision and Nasilai village in Nakelo where the latest measles case has come from.

“We do not want to put people at risk. If somebody has measles and there is a mass gathering where more than 100 people come from all over Fiji, will take measles back with them. We need to remember our past and what happened in 1875.”

There are 15 confirmed measles cases with 11 from Serua/Namosi subdivision and four from Suva and Rewa subdivision.
