USP opens new residence hall

The University of the South Pacific has opened a $9.3 million worth new residence hall at its Laucala campus yesterday.

Vice Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra says the project was completed with a seven point three million dollars loan from Fiji National Provident Fund while one point eight million dollars was provided by the Australia Pacific Training Centre.

The new hall comprises of eight buildings with one hundred and ninety two rooms.

Employment Minister Jone Usamate during the official opening said USP has come a long way and is providing better facilities to students each day.

Each room will be rented out at a cost of more than two thousand dollars.
