For the first time in Fiji, students will be able to pursue a degree or diploma in Gender Studies.
The University of the South Pacific has introduced this new course this year, in an effort to minimise gender equality issues in Fiji and the region.
Coordinator – Dr Priya Chattier says the content of the course is relevant for the Pacific and reflects the historical, cultural, economical and development realities of not only Fiji but the South Pacific region.

“It is mostly for students who want to have that added knowledge on Gender meaning how things works and why is the society different in terms of women and men’s issues.”
There are also plans for the introduction of a Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development.
