USP Hindi courses scrapped from 2018

Hindi courses at the University of the South Pacific are being discontinued from 2018 with no additional enrollments as of this year.&

In response to questions from FBC News USP says Hindi courses have become financially non-viable in the last 3 years and numerous efforts to seek external support from donors have been unsuccessful.

The University also says the USP council made its decision in October last year.

It also says the decision isn’t only based on financial viability but is also part of an academic rationalization of courses and programmes.

The University does confirm that the USP Council will reconsider scrapping Hindi courses if circumstances change, and it becomes profitable in a short time.
