Using TVET to fight climate change

Technical vocational education and training providers are part of a national stakeholder consultation to fuse sustainable energy and climate change into TVET training.
Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says they’ll also gather input on the current status of TVET and identify priority needs.
“One of the key barriers to improving the Pacific countries’ energy security status and resilience to climate change impact is the lack of local and regional capacity and expertise which are the results of the absence of sustainable training programs.”
The project is aimed at improving people’s livelihood.
Those empowered with information on climate change can then educate others in their community.
The program will be implemented by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the University of the South Pacific, in fifteen Pacific ACP countries including Fiji.
