Usamate opens new Dialysis Centre in Labasa

Health Minister Jone Usamate commended the work of the King and Queen contestants of the Friendly North Festival whose project has been to open a new Dialysis Centre in Labasa.

Usamate was the chief guest at the opening of the Dialysis Centre yesterday afternoon and reiterated the government’s intention to reach out to help the public.

“We will continue to invest in more staff and more equipment as much as possible and we are also looking to improving the system to make sure that medicine is available when it is needed.”

Usamate added that while such services are crucial for those suffering with kidney ailments and failure; it should also remind people of their role to keep healthy.

Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars was raised to open this dialysis centre which has brought much happiness to the community.

The minister also encouraged the contestants for this year’s Friendly North Festival to raise awareness of NCDs and avoidable life style diseases.
