Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate has had consultations with medical officers at Nausori Health Centre on how to improve services in the short term.

The centre looks after 94,000 people from three provinces, Rewa, Tailevu and Naitasiri and Usamate says the workload on medical staff can’t be understated.

“Well obviously, in a place like Nausori, we want to make sure that the medicine are available when needed, that we have enough staff when necessary, that all lab equipments are available, that’s why in this year’s budget we have money set aside for repairing and maintenance of facilities and also some of the equipments to try to make sure the medicines are in place when people need it, so those are some of the major things we are trying to do this year.”
