Former Deputy Director, Fiji Human Rights Commission Usaia Pita Waqatairewa is the new  General Secretary of the Social Democratic Liberal Party.

In a statement, SODELPA confirms that the Management Board has accepted the recommendation of the Recruitment and Selection Committee to appoint Waqatairewa as the new Party General-Secretary.

The recommendation was put forward by SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

The incumbent, Adi Litia Qionibaravi will remain in office to await Waqatairewa’s formal appointment and complete the handover process of all the documents, duties and responsibilities of the position which is also the Registered

Waqatairewa holds a Bachelor of Business (Public Administration) degree from Charles Sturt University, Sydney and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.
