Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama revealed that the US government legally owns land on which its Embassy is built on at Princess Road in Tamavua

The US government legally owns land on which its Embassy is built on at Princess Road in Tamavua.

This was revealed by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama as he highlighted another land dealing under the then SVT government.

According to Bainimarama, the land earlier belonged to the state however, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu who was the Lands Minister under the SVT government, converted the land to freehold and gave it to the US government.

Bainimarama says the records are with the Lands Ministry which clearly outlines the transaction carried out with the US government regarding the piece of land in Tamavua.

The Prime Minister says the practice of land dealings that transpired in the past will not happen again as they will follow proper procedures that are in place.
