The United States Coast Guard has come on board to assist the Fijian Navy in providing more surveillance in the Fiji Waters.

With a high risk of ongoing illegal activities at our seas, the US Coast guard will ensure that the prosperity of our oceans are maintained.

Captain Jim Estramonte says this is an important part of their mission as a lot people depend on the ocean for their livelihood.

“As you know or may not know that the Pacific Ocean is home to many population of fish and if unregulated it can be, you know people with ill intent can take advantage of that.”

The US Coast Guard Vessel will depart from the Port of Suva tomorrow.
