Urgent action needed: Minister

Fisheries Minister Semi Koroilavesau has called on Pacific Island countries to take urgent action in conserving and protecting the Tuna Industry.

Koroilavesau says conservation efforts of Tuna need to be taken seriously.

With Fiji working closely with the Forum Fisheries Agency to maintain compliance Koroilavesau says Pacific Island countries have not been consistent.

“We need to conserve the stocks I think there have been a lot of discussions but no actions, overall on both Organisations and the two commissions have a lot of bearing and decisions on Tuna stocks.”

Koroilavesau says there has to be a joint concerted effort from all countries.
