Unplanned power outage affects areas in Suva

Residents living in parts of Suva are experiencing power disruptions due to an unplanned power outage last night.

Part of Queen Elizabeth Drive from Charlton Avenue junction to FNU Nasese campus, whole of Kumi Street, Turners Place, Stock Street, Charlton Avenue, Gardiner Road, Part of Crawford Avenue, Ministry of Civil Service, & FNU Nasese campus are without power.

The Fiji Electricity Authority teams have established that the underground power cable supplying the affected area had been damaged during excavation works.

The faulty underground cable was isolated and the power supply to majority of the affected customers was normalized by midnight.

Repair work on the damaged underground power cable will continue today and electricity supply to the affected customers is expected to be restored this evening.

FEA requests the public to verify the presence of underground assets before carrying out any excavation work.
