UniFiji sets up investigation committee

May 17, 2019 5:01 pm

The University of Fiji will appoint an independent committee to look into the recent comments made by senior academic, Dr. Litiana Kuridrani.

In email exchanges last week, Kuridrani had hit out at a Law Students Association president Filipe Bainivalu, comparing him to a “Barking Indian Dog”

University Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Subramani, says a meeting was held today between all parties including Kuridrani and Bainivalu.

At the meeting, it was unanimously resolved that the issue would be considered and investigated by an Independent Committee, which would then provide a report to the University.

Professor Subramani has urged all parties to await of the investigations and to refrain from making any public statements until the investigation is completed.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar had earlier said they will wait for the outcome of an investigation before commenting further.
