A 23-year-old chef who is alleged to have raped his nephew has been remanded by the Suva High Court today.

The accused is charged with one count of raping his nephew who was 10-years-old during the time of the offense.

The alleged incident occurred on the 19th of last month in the Central Division.

The state had sought for 21 days to file information and disclosures.

The accused has waived his right to legal counsel.

The Judge said rape is a serious offense and told the accused to make a formal bail application.

The matter has been adjourned to the 4th of March for a plea.
