In a bid to promote human rights, the United Nations Human Rights will be marking a special day on their calendar globally for women human rights defenders on 29th of next month.

United Nations Human Rights Regional Representative Dr Chitralekha Massey says everyone has the right to be protected and to make their own decisions.

Massey says human rights and dignity are interrelated and anyone who speaks out, protects and promotes the rights of anyone else who is unable to do so is a human rights defender.

She says protecting one right has a positive effect on all the other rights and people should think holistically on how they can uphold human dignity.
