UN Suva Office identifies alleged murder victim

The victim in an alleged murder at Service Street in Suva yesterday afternoon has been positively identified.

The United Nations Office in Suva has confirmed to FBC News that Jennifer Ann Downes was an Australian national working for the UN World Food Programme in the Pacific since 2017.

She was known to her colleague as Jennifer Lusaka.

Police investigations into the incident continue as the key suspect in the matter remains in hospital.

At this point, it is understood that the suspect- who is the husband of the victim Jennifer Ann Downes – is still being treated at CWM Hospital.

It is alleged that suspect Henry Lusaka John tried to commit suicide by jumping from a balcony.

FBC News visited the scene this morning to find forensics officers gathering evidence.

The couple and their three children apparently moved into the neighborhood a few months ago.
