The United Arab Emirates, will invest more in the Pacific in the area of solar energy.

UAE Ambassador to Fiji Saleh Ahmad Alsuwaidi says they have funds set aside to supply solar energy to Pacific Island countries.

“There are also other area of corporation like the renewable energy. UAE established Pacific Fund 2010 and we have concluded eleven projects in the Pacific countries which show our interest in supporting the region as well.”

Alsuwaidi says Fiji has done a lot through the COP23 presidency to raise awareness on using renewable energy.

He says they are currently working with the Ministry of Environment to create a project based on solar energy that can be funded.
