The meeting with Brig General marks the beginning of joint collaborations between the two Armed Forces, following the signing of the Defense Co-operation Memorandum of Understanding in June 2014.

It is expected that the two military heads will discuss issues pertinent to military cooperation between the two Armed Forces and to the modalities of the establishment a Joint Committee which would meet regularly to discuss areas of cooperation and collaboration.

Fiji’s resident ambassador to the Unite Arab Emirates, Ambassador Robin Nair said the visit was significant given that they were from a very sophisticated and highly regarded armed force.

He said the visit marked the recognition and tribute to the high quality of Fijian soldiers who continue to serve in the region since 1978.
