Health Minister, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete

The Health Ministry has confirmed there’s an outbreak of Typhoid cases in the Naitasiri subdivision.

Health Minister, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has revealed to FBC News there are now 31 confirmed cases while 14 are suspected.

Dr Waqainabete is calling on the public to postpone non-essential travel to the outbreak affected areas and exercise precaution during this holiday season.

The Minister confirms their medical teams from Naitasiri are making daily visits, implementing public health awareness and interventions in affected villages.

Dr Waqainabete adds families have also been educated on safe food preparation, food handling and proper hygiene practices.
