Two sentenced for aggravated burglary and theft

Two men who pleaded guilty to one count each of aggravated burglary and theft have been sentenced to sixteen and twelve months’ imprisonment respectively.

Tomasi Rasegadi and Adriu Rosebu broke into a canteen in Wainadoi outside Lami on March 4th this year.

The duo stole assorted items valued at $248.

High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe said this is a breaking of a commercial property and stealing at night while the owners were away.

Justice Rajasinghe said this nature of crimes affects the entire community.

Rasegadi who has seven previous convictions within the last ten years has been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment with non-parole period of 10 months.

Rosebu who is a first offender has been sentenced twelve months imprisonment with a non-parole period of six months.
